THE ROLE AND FUTURE OF GROUP INSURANCE
This opening session will address the elephant in the room — the fallout from the Hayne Royal Commission and what is being done to address the issues. The session will cover the pending changes in the regulatory environment, the Trustee code, marketing, related incentives, commissions and fees and the appropriate member insurance coverage consistent with the Protecting Your Superannuation Package. Finally, the session will look beyond group insurance and discuss how insurance may form a larger part of a financial advice offering.

FROM THE REGULATOR: IMPROVING THE DESIGN AND OPERATIONS OF INSURANCE
In this session we will hear how from the regulatory bodies on how they view the reshaping of the landscape in group insurance, policies that should have legislated key definitions, terms and exclusions vis-a-vis accessibility and the likely impact to pricing of such standardisation. We will also hear their expectations around disclosure, claims handling and remedies for breaches.

This session will share insights and examples in dealing with the challenges and issues that arise with insurance as part of a superfund merger. This includes determining whether you should you have one or multiple insurers, the process of changing insurers, determining the level of insurance coverage, determining appropriate risk pools and minimising unintended impact to members.

LIVING BEYOND DEMENTIA: CREATING LIFE WITH INSPIRATION, WORDS AND LOVE
This session will share Kate Swaffer’s remarkable personal story and insight on being diagnosed with a rare type of younger onset dementia at only 49 and being advised by her health care professionals to get her end of life affairs in order and give up work and study. Kate is an incredible example of how an individual can continue to live a fulfilling life despite being handed a fatalistic view of her future has given her a strong purpose and passion.

BEYOND MEDICAL TREATMENT: SURVIVING CANCER AND DEVELOPING WELLNESS
More people are surviving cancer than ever before, with survival rates increasing from 48% to 68% over the last five years however many survivors do not reach their full potential as various symptoms, the side-effects of treatment, daily fluctuations in function, and the psychological and emotional impacts can make working difficult. This session will highlight the experience and success of Restore CaRe Positivum program, based on the combined experience of IPAR, Swiss Re, AIA Australia and Monash University, in supporting members to return to health and work following cancer.
